Listening is not just about devices or hearing tests.
Our courses and coaching sessions focus on how the brain adapts to sound- helping adults reduce listening fatigue, rebuild confidence, and reconnect with communication through structured listening education.
Listening Between the Lines was created to bridge the gap between clinical care and real-world listening.
Anastasiya Martynova, AuD, professionally known as Dr. Ana, is a California-licensed audiologist specializing in cochlear implants and brain-based aural rehabilitation. She works with hearing aid and cochlear implant recipients across the lifespan, with a particular focus on helping adults bridge the gap between hearing sound and understanding speech in real life listening situations.
With over a decade of extensive experience in healthcare disciples, cochlear implant programming, clinical training, and patient education, Dr. Ana recognized a critical gap in care: most individuals with hearing-related concerns undergo comprehensive hearing evaluations and are provided with excellent device technology- but very little guidance on how to train the brain to listen. She spent years watching motivated, capable adults do everything right—attend appointments, practice diligently, and advocate for themselves—yet still feel overwhelmed by real-world listening. What she saw wasn’t a lack of provider effort or adequate technology. It was a lack of individualized education and structured support for how the brain learns to listen again.
Most people think hearing and listening are the same thing. They’re not. After a hearing aid fitting or cochlear implantation, sound may return but understanding doesn’t always follow as quickly as expected. Voices can feel sharp, unclear, or exhausting to follow. Conversations require intense focus. Fatigue sets in. And many adults quietly wonder why listening still feels so hard when the technology is “working.”
Listening Between the Lines was created to address that gap.
Dr. Ana created educational resources that focus on evidence-based auditory rehabilitation, auditory processing, listening strategies, and structured, goal-driven methods to reduce listening fatigue and rebuild confidence in everyday communication. Through guided listening exercises, education, and practical strategies, individuals with auditory processing concerns, hearing aid and cochlear implant recipients, and anyone with listening challenges- can learn how to move beyond simply hearing sound toward understanding meaning. This work is not about perfection. It’s about progress, clarity, and independence.
Listening Between the Lines exists to teach those skills. It honors the invisible effort listening requires and provides a path forward that feels manageable, validating, and sustainable. Because true listening happens not just in the sounds we hear- but in how we learn to interpret them.
