No. Listening Between the Lines is an educational program, not medical care or therapy. The content is designed to help adults better understand listening, communication, and listening effort after hearing changes. It does not replace care from your audiologist or hearing healthcare provider. Think of this program as learning how to use listening skills in everyday life — something that typically happens outside the clinic. These programs are designed for real-world listening challenges, regardless of whether you have a formal hearing loss diagnosis.
This program is designed for adults and families of adults who:
- Use hearing aids or cochlear implants
- Recently experienced hearing changes
- Feel tired or overwhelmed by listening situations
- Hear sounds but still struggle in conversations
- Want communication to feel easier and more natural
You do not need advanced technology knowledge or prior training to benefit. If you’ve ever thought:
“I can hear… but listening still feels hard” - you are in the right place.
Listening Between the Lines is not a hearing consulting service. Hearing consulting services either give you information without application or offer sessions without a clear structure. Listening Foundations programs do both, intentionally.
You learn first → so sessions aren’t spent on basics
You apply → so it’s not just theory
You refine → so it actually sticks
The goal isn’t temporary insight. It’s long-term change in how you listen and communicate. By the end of this experience, you’ll have a clear understanding of your listening patterns, practical strategies for real-world situations, confidence in how to approach conversations in quiet and in noise as well as a sense of control that doesn’t depend on constant follow-up sessions or repeat consultations.
Your audiologist focused on helping you hear sound clearly through testing, device programming, and medical guidance. The hearing aid and cochlear implant manufacturers provide aural rehabilitation resources to practice detecting and differentiating sounds with your devices.
Listening Between the Lines focuses on what comes after that step: understanding listening effort, adapting to real-world environments, building communication awareness, and developing practical listening strategies for long-term success.
These two approaches complement each other but serve different purposes.
Each offering supports a different stage of the listening journey:
→ Blog Posts (Free)
Learn foundational concepts and explore whether this approach resonates with you.
→ Listening Foundations Lite (eBook)
Build awareness of listening effort and communication patterns.
→ Listening Foundations Core (Structured Program with optional 1:1 Guided Application)
A structured, step-by-step learning experience led by a clinical audiologist with exercises and deeper education.
Optional 1:1 Guided Application add-on that is personalized to address your specific listening challenges and long-term goals.
Most people begin with Lite and move into Core when they’re ready for more structured and personalized support.
You’ll receive immediate access via email with instructions to log in and get started.
You’ll have ongoing access, so you can move through the material at your own pace and review as needed. Clients enrolling in the Guided Application program will need to schedule both of their 1:1 sessions within 3 months of purchasing the course.
Many people notice increased awareness early on. Meaningful improvement comes from applying strategies consistently over time.
These programs are not designed to “fix” hearing. They help you better understand and manage how you listen in real-world situations. This approach works best when you actively engage with the material and apply it in your daily life. If you’re unsure if a specific program is right for you, starting with a smaller step can help you decide if it’s the right fit.
Yes, payment plans are available for select programs upon checkout.
Due to the digital nature of the course, eBook purchases and course enrollment are non-refundable. If you’re unsure if a specific program is right for you, starting with a smaller step can help you decide if it’s the right fit.
Listening Foundations courses are not FSA eligible. FSA eligibility applies to services that are deemed medically necessary to treat a diagnosed medical or mental condition. Listening Between the Lines provides educational information and coaching and does not replace professional medical care.
